Bernie Bowhuis
Bernard (Bernie) Bowhuis is the founder and president of Benchmark Financial Design Group, Inc. (BFDG, Inc.) Bernie is a 1983 graduate of Hope College in Holland, MI. At Hope Bernie graduated with a Business Administration degree with an emphasis in accounting and earned honors as All-MIAA 1st team for football. Bernie has also been a CFP (Certified Financial Planner) since 1995. He has been happily married to Karen (Connor) since 1984, and has two sons. Greg, the eldest, is a teacher in Houston, TX, and is pursuing a PhD in education and administration. Chad is active as a professional planner at BFDG, Inc. Bernie and Karen currently have two grandchildren (Chad’s daughters, Braelyn and Isla), and enjoys cycling, baseball, Notre Dame football, trivia, and visiting craft breweries.
Chad Bowhuis
Chad Bowhuis is a 2012 graduate of Aquinas College in Grand Rapids, MI. Chad graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration with a minor in Communications, and participated in baseball from 2007 to 2012. Since beginning his career at Benchmark Financial Design, he has completed his licensing requirements for Life, Accident, and Health Insurance in the state of Michigan, as well as being licensed as a General Securities Representative, completing both his Series 7 & Series 66 examinations. He also obtained his CFP designation in 2018. He has been happily married since 2012 to his college sweetheart, April. Chad and April have two daughters, Braelyn and Isla. In his personal life, he is also an avid sports fan, as well as a self-taught guitar- and bass-player.
